Where to stay in Montauk…
Montauk offers a wide array of accommodation choices, but here are our favorites:
(Wherever you choose, we recommend you book sooner rather than later. Montauk fills up quickly, especially the good spots. On another note however, it IS pre-season, so rates should be reasonable, although not all resorts in town may be up and running yet.)
Ruschmeyer’s
Since it’s our special day at Ruschmeyer’s and there are only a limited amount of rooms, Daniel and I will be reserving many of the rooms for close family and/or the wedding party.
http://www.kingandgrove.com/ruschmeyers-montauk Mention the Crassweller- Stedman wedding if booking!
There will probably be rooms available , but if not don’t worry! There are lots of other options in close proximity to the resort…
Sole East Resort:
A beachy-chic hotel with all of the mod-cons and plenty of style. Within quick walking distance of Ruschmeyer’s. Our top pick!
**UPDATE: We have a block of rooms reserved at Sole East Resort until 30 days prior to the wedding. Please call or book online. (for online bookings select the “group bookings with code” button and put “crassweller” into promo code field. You will receive our preferred rates of $199/$219 depending on room type**
Sole East offers rooms of varying configurations, most overlooking the zen-like garden, lounge and pool area. There is a restaurant on-site.
***Please note that the Sole East BEACH rooms are at a different location, and although they are also a cute option (right in town), are not within close walking distance of Ruschmeyer’s.
Surf Lodge
A hip, bohemian hot-spot on the lake.
Surf Lodge is a gorgeous white-washed compound featuring cabana-like rooms over- looking the lake, a restaurant worthy of Manhattans’ pickiest diners and an indoor/outdoor bar on the deck. There’s even a bonfire pit!
Buyer Beware: this IS a hotspot and can get wild into the small hours.
You can bike or drive to Ruschmeyer’s from the Surf Lodge.
Montauk Motel
The rustic charm (and prices!) of old-school Montauk.
It’s where we always stay when we visit. Offers rooms with 2 double beds, most with kitchenettes as well. (ask for rooms 10 through 16 on the top deck) There are also a limited number of 2-bedroom cabins.
The Montauk Motel is conveniently located in town, tucked behind the post office. It has a pool, a gazebo in the garden for sundowners and is run by an eccentric Mother/Daughter team; Claire and Debbie.
http://www.montaukmotels.com/ (the website is uninspiring, but the rooms are clean, spacious and the location is quiet and convenient)
Call Claire or Debbie at 1 631 668 2704 for reservations.
You can drive from Montauk Motel to Ruschmeyer’s.
The East Deck
The original! The East Deck is a little bit magical, if perhaps a little bit out of the way. If you like waking up to the sound of the surf, then this is the place for you! Located right on the beach, at famous surf-spot Ditch Plains.
The Motel is comprised of quaint retro-chic rooms (some with kitchens, some without) along a great-big communal deck steps from the beach. It’s not fancy, but it is special.
Booking the East Deck is an challenge: Alice starts accepting reservations on March 1st for the season, HOWEVER this place is beloved and books WELL in advance. Most people return year after year and mail their deposits into Alice so they are waiting for her on or before March 1st. If you want to stay at the East Deck, we recommend you check out the website, choose what kind of room you want and mail Alice a charming letter stating your preferred choice and a check for one nights’ deposit. She also seems to have an email request form on the website now, so you could try that as well. Fingers crossed!

A car is recommended if staying here. It’s a 4-6 min drive into town and Ruschmeyer’s. There’s no restaurant, but you can grab a hot coffee and a snack from the Ditch Witch while you watch the local surfers grab a wave or two in the morning:
There are MANY other accommodation choices in town. If none of these work out for you, please check out other options on the Montauk Chamber of Commerce website (http://www.montaukchamber.com/browse/4/accommodations/) OR drop us a line and we can help with more recommendations.
House Rentals:
Renting a house in Montauk may be a good option for bigger groups/families, or people that may stay longer than the weekend. Please contact us if this is something you’re interested in and we can put you in touch with the right people.
